About

Q&A With Yours Truly

Q: You have a degree in neuroscience? What does that have to do with software?

A: I pursued a degree in neuroscience with the intention of serving others through medicine. After discovering my love for programming, I realized this career path offers the same opportunities to serve people, with the added bonus of getting to troubleshoot highly varied, complex issues. I love getting to use my science background, which taught me how to create innovative solutions in a rapidly evolving field with few clear answers, to serve my clients.

Q: What do you have to offer that other developers don't?

A: I know how to ask the right questions for the situation – whether I'm finding the source of a bug, researching how to use a new technology, or designing the architecture of a new project. These skills combined with my love for people empower me to communicate well both internally and externally to construct solutions that not only satisfy clients, but excite them. Not to mention, I make a mean peanut butter cup cheesecake.

Q: So, what's next?

A: I'm looking for a developer position where my skills can be both fostered and challenged. I'd love to work as a part of a team that values collaboration and mutual encouragement. I strongly value work-life balance and am looking for a company that shares that view. Ultimately, I want to contribute to meaningful products that make the world better.

Q: What do you like to do when you're not programming?

A: You can usually find me cooking a new recipe, hiking with my husband and my dog, reading, or playing board games with friends.
